Welcome to Exponent
The third patch to address issues in v2.3.0 (stable, patch#1 and patch#2) has been released. This patch can be applied to any site already running v2.3.0, v2.3.0patch1, or v2.3.0patch2. The code is already fixed in the 'master' git repo and the patch file can be downloaded from sourceforge.net here. This patch updates a few 3rd party libraries and fixes these issues: ...Read More
This version is considered a major upgrade and as always we recommend testing prior to updating a production site (see below)! This stable release has many new features and addresses several issues in previous versions. We've already posted several news and blog articles discussing these new features. ...Read More
(Updated 11 Apr 2014) It's been a while since the last update to Exponent...which was the plan. Several users were having to spend an inordinate amount of time continually updating their sites to the latest version, so we've slowed down our version updates from monthly to between quarterly and semi-annually (every 3 to 6 months). Hopefully, the 2014 Wish List article whetted your appetite for what will actually hit the streets later this spring. Because we'll be implementing MANY new features, we've also decided to bump minor versions. Here's some of the things you can look forward to in v2.3.0. ...Read More
We've experienced a LOT of forum spamming lately, so much so that we changed some things which inadvertently disallowed new user registrations...then when fixing that issue and requiring admin approval prior to account activation, we were overwhelmed with new account registrations. Luckily, all those 'tests' prevented most if not all spam from posting to the forum. However our old forum software (PhpBB3) simply doesn't seem to have the tools to combat this form of attack. Therefore we've moved to using Vanilla Forums software. ...Read More

You've unwrapped (installed) v2.3.0, and much to your dismay it looks the same! Where are all these major new features? One of the goals of the Exponent CMS project is to provide seamless or transparent upgrades to newer versions. While this isn't always true (1.x code deprecation, etc...), we do try to keep your web site looking the same after an upgrade, while offering new features and improving the site management tools. In this article, I'll attempt to show you how to activate the 'new' interface options and work around a couple minor issues. ...Tweet
Version 2.3.0 includes a new optional feature called 'Workflow'. This feature allows greater control over a multi-user site, especially where there are many users adding new material which should be edited or approved prior to being visible to the public. 'Workflow' adds 1) Revisions, and 2) Approval. ...Tweet
Version 2.3.0 is the follow-up to version 2.2.3 and was given a version bump due to the many new features added. It also marks a 'slowing down' of version releases as it's purposely been five months since the last release. While it doesn't require as many changes as the move to v2.2.0 (which deprecated all the old 1.x code), it would still be wise to note and adhere these following changes. ...Tweet
