Exponent and YUI: Getting married in 0.96.7
Now that the 0.96.6 release is (finally!) out the door
we're taking a closer review of overall website usability and interface enhancements. Here at the OIC Group, we've been quite fond of Yahoo!'s User Interface library (YUI) for a while now, making very practical use of their dom and event objects. Very recently we've started to integrate their menu and panel systems into client work, adding a very nice level of control overall.
With a nice marraige of YUI and eXp, here's what you can expect in the 0.96.7 and future releases:
- Drag and Drop for re-sorting modules
- Admin Dashboard that will sit on top of the site (replacing the admin control panel)
- New views for both horizontal and vertical flyout menues
- Integration of the YUI Rich Text Editor, Calendar, and color picker
- Use of YUI Tabs for interface enhancements, especially in the "configure site" area
- Content Menus on the modules, integrated with permissions.
- A solid base theme built in YUI grids with drastic HTML cleanup and base stylesheets to work from.
Along with you YUI integration, we've got a new "Overwritable CSS Engine" in the works, that will allow designers to get a much easier handle on finding/creating/overriding styles on many levels.
We're very excited with our prototypes for all this, and we hope you guys are too!
Viva le Exponent!
~Phillip
